Running with Hope

Kids in Action  is an after school program run by Hope Mission and has been operating in 4 of Red Deer’s  elementary schools since October 2015.   Hope Mission has established youth ministries in Edmonton, Calgary, Wetaskiwin and now Red Deer and they look to bring hope and healing to those who may not be familiar with the gospel.

In addition to building relationship, instilling values and feeding the children who attend this club there is a physical component and the kids have been training all school year for a big race!   On June 11 at Great Chief Park kids and running buddies will be running a 5 Km course and finishing with a celebration barbeque.      Hope Mission has been doing a great work here in Red Deer connecting with our school age kids and we are pleased to support them on this day of the big race.      You can be a part of this!     Here are some ways you can help:

Be a running buddy.    There are 170 kids who have been running, sweating and getting faster all year!  Hope Mission’s goal is that each school age runner would have an older running buddy to run the 5K race with them.  There is a need for lots of runners and other helpers .  Visit their race info website at  www.hopemission.com/5krace     to sign up to run or be a field marshal etc.

Help with food prep, barbequing or clean up.      We will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs to 400+ kids and their families.   Email  LaurieW@CrossRoadsChurch.ca  if you can help in this area.

And since we are on the topic of running……..

Love in the Laces     Is just around the corner!   It is not too early to start thinking about supporting our partner Womens Outreach and kids in our community through the giving of new back to school shoes.   This year we are happy to be partnering with a few other churches in the community in order to meet this need. If you would like to be a part of this practical and appreciated initiative please contact Laurie.  We are in need of people to be at the collection table in the foyer and  to help fit children with the right size shoes at the Centre late July through to mid August.

Please contact Laurie for more details on any of the above.   LaurieW@CrossRoadsChurch.ca
